Brava! I was captivated from the start. This is a side of World War II I hadn’t given much thought. I knew children were sent off for their own safety, but had never given much consideration as to what their lives might have been like. Jean Grainger does a marvelous job of opening that door wide and allowing us to step into a world turned upside down. A world that was full of prejudice and love, fear and safety, terror and joy, betrayal and trust. Ms Grainger’s characters seem as real as if this were a documentary. I’m hoping that the ending perhaps hints at a sequel . . . Please? Ok, I’m finished. Go get the book already!
